The Loneliness Project talk by Gordon Thomas
Sutton Nonsuch Rotary Club is running a Loneliness Project. The idea is to
meet or telephone lonely people in the Sutton area, so they have some form of regular contact with a fellow, friendly individual.
The project has been running successfully for over four years now. The Befrienders Team of the Volunteer Centre (Sutton) plays a key role in providing the contact details of the lonely people for the Nonsuch team to get in touch with. Contact is usually on a weekly basis for a half hour home visit or a fifteen minute phone call. So it is not hugely demanding.
If you are interested in becoming a befriender with the Volunteer Centre, please contact Irene Jordan, the Befriending Project Manager, on 0208 661 5900 or email befriending@vcsutton.org.uk
