Banstead Rotary Village Fair 2017
The weather was hot and sunny for another amazing Banstead Rotary Village Fair. Hundreds of visitors and 25 exhibiting charity and voluntary stalls helped to make it a highly enjoyable event and raise more money for charity. The Rotary Club was lucky enough to have two celebrities taking part in the Village Day opening ceremony, namely the Deputy Mayor Mayor and Mayoress of Reigate and Banstead. The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Frank Kelly officially opened the Village Fair with a short speech. He and the Deputy Mayoress were introduced to the stallholders by Past President Jane Illingworth as they toured every stall to meet all the organisers and stallholders Banstead Show Choir also gave another fabulous performance filled with feeling and emotion. Their singing of several songs included Another Op’nin’, Circle of Life, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Razzle Dazzle, Flash, Bang, wallop, You’ll Never Walk Alone, and The Rhythm Of Life from Broadway and West End musicals. They certainly brought the crowds into The Orchard!
More than 25 stallholders provided plenty of other activities including bouncy castle rides, lucky dips, competitions, home made cakes, bric- a – brac, food stalls, and information about local charities and groups. Banstead Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who annually makes the Village Fair possible: the members, friends and volunteers who organise the event, the charities and organisations who lend support and donate to the event preparation, the stallholders who are such an integral part of the day and the many visitors who come year after year. We look forward to seeing you again in 2018!
